Nevemore Paper Blog Hop
This month we are highlighting the Nevermore paper packet from the NEW Holiday Seasonal Expressions catalog! If you don't have a copy of this Expressions catalog, let your consultant know that you need one!! LOTS of great NEW products and ideas are in it!!
If you are coming from Melissa David's Blog then you are on the right track! We are making one big loop around the blogs and you are on your way! We have enjoyed making these projects and hope you enjoy your journey!
My first thought was to make a card for Thanksgiving but I just could not pass up making this Halloween FUN card ('The Spooky Flower Pot")!! It really is more simple to make than it looks! Let's get started:
Start with your Background and Texture Paper with the Orange, I cut mine at 11 x 4 1/4" and then fold it in half (with the Orange on the Outside).
Then you will fold the top down 1 1/2" on each side, burnish well.
To get the angle cuts, I opened the top flaps and placed the corner of the score line in my trimmer, on the track and I moved the bottom folded corner to the 1/2" line and trimmed off that long skinny triangle, then repeat on the other side.
Next, I left the flaps up and held them together while I used the Scallop Border Punch to make the scalllop edges on the ends of the flaps. Put a little adhesive under each flap and adhere them to the outside of the base.
At this point, I placed the black cardstock piece inside the base of the flower pot to see how far over I could place the adhesive to adhere the sides together. I wanted to make sure I could move my tag up and down with getting 'stuck'! Set flower pot aside while we assemble the tag.
Cut out the flower base with your Cricut Artiste cartridge (size is on the stamp set), then stamp the flower onto the base with Black Ink. TIP: I found it easier to get my image on the base by inking my stamp and turning it upside down and placing the base on top of the stamp and pressing gently all over with my fingers. I seemed to get it lined up easier this way! see picture:
Now you can place your flowers on top of the Whisper Cardstock piece to see where you will want to stamp...stamp 'BOO' sentiment in Black Ink on the Whisper cardstock just under the flowers (leaving enough room for a little goody if you choose to add one! Or for a place to write a cute little note!)
Next, Adhere Sunset cardstock to center of Black cardstock and then the Whisper cardstock to center of this piece.
Now we can add the flowers! I used Thin Foam Tape (LOVE this stuff!) to the two outer flowers and Regular Foam Tape to the middle flower, so it would stand up a little taller than the others. I placed the outer flowers down a little farther than the top one so it looks like a bouquet when it's closed. NOTE: I also used my grid paper to make sure that the bottom of the cardstock strips were at 0 and the top of the highest flower was at 5 1/2", this way it will fit into a regular size envelope!
Now we can't forget the bling!! I added the bitty sparkles to the circles in the 'BOO' sentiment.
To add a little goody, I made a little belly band out of a piece of the Zip Strip (the 1/2" strip at the top of your Background & Texture paper that you cut off...one side has really cute things on it! I cut off the piece that said 'Happy Halloween' and used it for my belly band to hold the little chocolate)
I also chose to use the little Hershey's miniatures because they are a little smaller and don't add too much bulk to my flower pot! SO FUN!!!
Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you enjoyed today's project! Visit tomorrow for the Thanksgiving version! If you would like to purchase the products for this project see the supply list below and talk with your consultant or visit my website www.CreatedWithHeart.ctmh.com
